Pondicherry Multipurpose Social Service Society (PMSSS) is carrying on the sponsorship project for the past 6 years through the funding of Child Fund International, USA. Through Child Fund India (CFI), we are supporting the disadvantaged, discriminated, and excluded children and enabled them to grow up in family, community, and nation. On Friday 29th May 2020, CFI sponsored 6 children received the Health support assistance from the Executive Director of PMSSS Rev. Fr. C. Joseph Arumaiselvam at PMSSS office. The PMSSS Admin cum Finance Manager Mrs. Bridget, CFI Project Manager Mr. Sivaraman, and the staff team were present for the program. Each child was given assistance based on the type of illness and awareness on COVID-19 precautions are given and blessed the children to lead healthy lives.


ChildFund, an International Charitable organization, is dedicated to creating an environmental of hope and respect for needy children of all cultures and beliefs in which they have opportunities to achieve their full potential, and to providing practical tools for positive change to children, families and communities.

PMSSS has signed an agreement with ChildFund Internation, USA on July 18, 2014 to provide children with development, protection and participation opportunities thereby reducing discrimination, exploitation and vulnerability among children.

PMSSS and ChildFund India organized district level rally on Child protection on 2nd December 2018 near Gandhi Statue, at Beach Road, Puducherry. The Chief Minister of Puducherry accepted the request of PMSSS to flag off the rally along with the Government Whip. Also application submitted to the concerned police stations for protection and permission to conduct the rally from Gandhi statue, beach road and concluded at PMSSS main office, Puducherry.

The rally was flagged off by the Honourable Chief Minister of Puducherry, Mr. V. Narayanasamy in the presence of Executive Director/ Chief Functionary of PMSSS, Rev.Fr. C. Joseph Arumaiselvam, Mrs. Bridget Selvaraj, Finance manager cum Admin officer, PMSSS, Govt. Whip, Mr. R.K.R. Anandaraman. Welcome address was delivered by Mr. Sivaraman, project manager.

Chief Functionary while addressing the gathering, told that PMSSS with the support of ChildFund India help the children in the service areas to have overall growth by having support in education, health, skill training, facilitation to job opportunities etc; In addition to this special focus is given to child protection which is the need of the hour. PMSSS with the support of ChildFund India carried out various activities for child protection in the service areas. As a part of it this rally being conducted.

The Chief Minister in his special address appreciated PMSSS & CFI activities especially the initiatives taken regarding child protection issues and addressing mechanisms. Then mentioned about male and female ratio in Puducherry where female ratio is 52 and male ratio is 48 and this ratio itself tells about the need of protection to female. Female do better in education than male in Puducherry. Also women are more responsible in families than men. Hence it is the responsibility of the government and non government agencies like PMSSS & CFI to work for child protection especially for girls. The government of Puducherry implemented various schemes for women.

Apart from 250 youth from the project, child protection committee, sponsor relation committee and project team members participated. The rally created appreciable awareness among the children, elders, public since, the project children raised slogans towards child protection issues and also distributed child protection pamphlets to the public on their way during rally.

The children, parents child protection committee and sponsor relation committee members thanked PMSSS and ChildFund India for the opportunity given to the children to raise their voice for their rights especially for child protection issues and emphasize the need of protection for them.
