The cumulative experience and expertise of PMSSS enabled it swiftly to rise to the occasion on that fateful Sunday of 26th December 2004 when tsunami struct many coastal villages in the Archdiocese. In spite of the totally unforeseen and unfamiliar nature of this tragedy, PMSSS embarked upon a coherent plan of short and long term measures with the support of CARITAS, ECHO [European Commission for Humanitarian Aid Office] and CRS [ Catholic Relief Services] who are our major funding partners.
